Five Canadian provinces have sent invitations to candidates in the recent weekly round of PNP invitations. Provinces including Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Alberta have invited candidates to apply under the provincial immigration programs.

Almost all provinces in Canada issue invitations to candidates via the Provincial Nominee Program, commonly referred to as PNP. Two provinces, namely Quebec and Nunavut, do not employ PNPs for inviting candidates.

The Province of Quebec has signed a special agreement with the federal government because immigration is a collaborative responsibility of both the provincial as well as federal governments.

This unique agreement gives Quebec complete freedom over the economic class immigrant’s selection process. The other provinces do not have this liberty.

If candidates receive a provincial nomination, their permanent residency application is improved overall. Also, a nomination adds an extra 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points to the application of Express entry candidates.
