Latest PNP Draw Results: Ontario, BC, and NB issued invitations to candidates
This week, three Canadian provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, and New Brunswick, have issued invitations to candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
Provinces invite candidates who they feel can easily integrate into the provincial labor market and establish themselves economically.
Most of the Canadian provinces and territories, excluding Quebec and Nunavut, hold Provincial Nominee Program Draws to invite candidates with specific occupations like skill trades, healthcare, tech occupations, etc. This enables the provinces to fill their labor shortages.
Likewise, through IRCC, the federal government is going to start holding new category-based selection draws under Express Entry to target candidates with specific occupations and French language proficiency.
If candidates in the Expres Entry pool receive a provincial invitation, they are rewarded with an extra 600 points in the CRS or Comprehensive Ranking System.
This increases the likelihood that they will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence.
Economic immigration candidates may still be able to apply for a provincial nomination, even if they are not in an Express Entry program.
This adds more value to their permanent resident application.
It’s notable that receiving a nomination and receiving a permanent resident status are two different things. A candidate having a provincial nomination is still required to apply to the IRCC separately for PR. This is due to the reason that immigration is a joint responsibility of both provincial and federal governments.
