PNP: what is it?

The Provincial Nominee Programme, or PNP, has become a major pathway for economic immigration in Canada. The program was launched with the aim of distributing immigration benefits across Canada.

However, PNP has become more valuable in Canada’s immigration policy. This is particularly because Canadian provinces employ PNP to meet their demographic as well as labor market shortage.

Provinces also have the opportunity to nominate candidates in the Federal Express Entry pool, in addition to the typical Provincial Nominee Programme, which all Canada’s provinces utilize except for Quebec and Nunavut. This is also called Enhanced Provincial Nomination. This allows candidates an additional 600 CRS points, ensuring that they’ll receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Canada is hoping to admit 333,000 newcomers to the country through PNP between 2023 and 2025.
