Two Canadian provinces, British Columbia and PEI, recently held PNP draws to nominate potential candidates. Both provinces sent provincial invitations to Candidates in the weekly draws.

All provinces and territories in Canada, other than Nunavut and Quebec, employ the PNP or Provincial Nominee Program to choose and nominate skilled immigrants to their local areas.

Provinces and territories select immigrants based on their skills and believe that they have the potential to help the government address the regional labor market and demographic needs.

Quebec is the only French-majority province in Canada that has unique control over its local economic immigration.

Quebec’s government has a separate immigration-focused agreement with IRCC, so Quebec does not operate a PNP of its own.

Recent Provincial Draw Results: British Columbia and PEI Held PNP Draws

The following are the results of the provincial draw, as two Canadian provinces, British Columbia and PEI, held PNP draws to nominate candidates.

British Columbia

On April 16, 2024, British Columbia held various provincial immigration draws to invite candidates.

In the first PNP draw, called the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) for British Columbia, the province invited 39 candidates. It was a general draw, and candidates from five different streams were considered.

These were:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Skilled Worker – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
  • International Graduate
  • International Graduate – EEBC option

Except for one of the five streams, all streams had a minimum score requirement of 132. Candidates from the BCPNP’s Entry Level and Semi-Skilled stream needed a minimum score of 107 to be eligible for the invitation.

In addition to the above draw, BC conducted four more draws through the BCPNP. All four draw invited candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, with the EEBC option.

40 candidates from four distinct categories received invitations. The following is the all four draw result:

  • 12 candidates in childcare occupations with a minimum score of 92 received invitations
  • 10 candidates in construction occupations with a minimum score of 97 received invitations
  • 18 candidates in healthcare occupations with a minimum score of 92 received invitations
  • Less than five candidates in veterinary care occupations with a minimum score of 80 received invitations.

Prince Edward Island (PEI)

The province of PEI, or Prince Edward Island, held its PNP draw on April 18 under the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The province invited 82 Labour and Express Entry candidates who are working in four employment sectors:

  • Healthcare;
  • Manufacturing;
  • Construction; and
  • Traditional.

So, this was all about the latest PNP draw result.
