IRCC issues ITAs in the latest Express Entry draws. Over 1391 applicants were invited in the PNP-only draw. In addition, applicants required a minimum CRS score of 670 in order to be considered.

The department issued over 6,300 ITAs in a draw for Canadian Experience Class applicants. Applicants required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score of 515 in order to be considered.

Well, the recent minimum CRS score represents the lowest score of the year in a non-category based selection draw & is also lower than the last CEC-only draw on May 31.

So far this month IRCC has issued over 17,361 ITAs over six separate draws.

Yesterday, IRCC invited 1,319 applicants in a PNP-only draw with a minimum CRS of 670. Before that, IRCC most recently invited 3,200 applicants in a category-based selection draw for French proficiency on July 8.

CRS scores for PNP-Only Express Entry draws tend to be higher than average because Express Entry applicants who have been successfully nominated for the PNP automatically obtain an additional 600 CRS points on top of their existing score. For example, an Express Entry applicant with a score of 300 who is successfully nominated will further have an overall CRS of 900.

What Is Express Entry?

Express Entry manages three economic immigration programs, i.e., Federal Skilled Trades Program, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Every program is a pathway to permanent residency in Canada.

These programs use the Comprehensive Ranking System to evaluate immigration applicants based on human capital factors like age, education, language ability, work experience, etc. Moreover, each factor obtains a score, and the total creates an applicant’s CRS score.

Furthermore, the system was introduced in 2015 as a means for IRCC to speed up processing time for successful applicants. In addition, the department has a published service standard of six months for these applications.

What Is Category-Based Selection?

IRCC issues ITAs in the latest Express Entry draws. Over 1391 applicants were invited in the PNP-only draw.

Well, category-based selection was launched in 2023 as a pathway for IRCC to further target the Express Entry applicants who are likely to help Canada fill urgent gaps in its workforce or strengthen a demographic.

To that end, the department introduced six categories in 2023 and earlier this year declared that they would remain in place into 2025. They are:

  • Healthcare
  • STEM Professions
  • Trades
  • Transport
  • Agriculture or Agri-Food
  • French Language Proficiency

Draws for this category are not program-specific and permanent resident applicants must be in the Express Entry application pool to be eligible.
