BC and Manitoba issued invitations in Canada’s recent PNP Draw.
Two Canadian provinces, British Columbia and Manitoba, held the PNP draws and issued invitations for candidates in the last two weeks.
The provinces organized the draws at the same time when the IRCC launched the new selection categories for Express Entry.
The candidate from the PNP draw could also be considered in the new selection category.
According to the IRCC, all future draws will not be for the newly launched categories, and the Express Entry PNP will continue as usual.
Many PNP streams are reflected in the selection categories. Except for Quebec and Nunavut, all the Canadian provinces and territories also organize draws for specific job fields, specific NOC codes, or specific languages to issue invitations for candidates.
For instance, most provinces held PNP draws, particularly for healthcare workers or tech professionals. Similarly, British Columbia organize draws almost every week for healthcare professionals.
In Canada, federal and provincial governments share the responsibility of immigration to the country. PNP draws are significantly important for the provinces, which enables them to nominate deserving economic immigration candidates for permanent residency. The provincial government can nominate candidates who are capable of easily establishing themselves economically within the specific province as well as who can fill the vacant job positions in the province.
PNP draw results between May 23-June 2, 2023.
British Columbia
The province of British Columbia organized two PNP draws on May 23 and 30.
In the draw of May 23, the provinces issued invitations to more than 140 candidates in four draws. The largest draw targeted tech occupations requiring the least SIRS score of 90 and invited 103 candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduates streams.
The other three targeted draws invited 20 candidates who were early childhood educators, 17 candidates from the healthcare stream, and less than five candidates from the other priority occupations. The least required SIRS score for all three draws was 60.
In the PNP draw of May 30, BC invited 151 candidates from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Streams in its largest draw. The draw was general and did not target any specific field or occupation. The least required SIRS score varied from 85-107
The other three draws on May 30 were similar to the provinces’ previous week’s draws.
In these three draws, 26 invited candidates were early childhood educators and assistants, 14 were healthcare workers, and less than five were from other priority occupations. The candidates required the least STRS score of 60.
