Canada issued 3000 ITAs to Express Entry’s CEC candidates on May 31, 2024. This was a program-specific draw for Express Entry candidates of the Canadian Experience Class program. IRCC issued invitations to those who fulfilled a minimum score requirement of 522.

This draw emerged to be the second draw of this week, with another specific draw that occurred on May 30, 2024, for Express Entry candidates with a Provincial Nominee Program nomination.

This draw for CEC candidates has occurred after a really long time. It was last conducted on September 14, 2021. In addition, it displayed the minimum CRS score of that year in the general Express Entry category. These draws of this week also indicate the first program-specific draws since the Express Entry category-based draws took place in May 2023. Most candidates under the Canadian Experience Class and PNP candidates are currently working as temporary residents in Canada.

Moreover, these draws reflect IRCC’s promise of conducting more domestic draws to enable the transition from TR to PR holders. As a result, the temporary residence levels will decline in Canada.

These program-specific draws choose candidates in the Express Entry pool who must have applied via a particular PR program. These are unlike the general draws where the department invites candidates from all programs.

The draw on May 3 also took place after a brief pause, and the last draw occurred on April 24, 2024. IRCC didn’t reveal any definite reason behind the pause. However, the latest Access to Information Request revealed that all draws in 2024 will mostly occur on a pre-planned schedule. The immigration department has not officially declared this schedule. It also claimed that the draw size and frequency will primarily rely on the admission levels of 2024 and 2025. In addition, the processing timeframes will further impact the draw’s frequency.

Before the pause took place, there four draws in April. The first draw in April sent ITAs to 1,280 candidates. This was a general draw which occurred on April 10. The next day, another draw was conducted in which IRCC issued invitations to 4,500 candidates. This was a category-based selection draws for STEM occupation candidates.

The remaining two draws occurred on April 23 and 24. IRCC sent ITAs to 2,095 candidates on April 23 in an all-program draw, while 1,400 French language candidates received ITAs on April 24.

The Access to Information Request claims that French language proficiency will lead the way for category-based draws this year.

IRCC further claims that French proficiency typically implies that candidates will receive a higher CRS score and an improved chance of successful economic integration.

STEM professions are at the second-highest number of ITAs with 25 percent, healthcare occupations at 15 percent and 5 percent. Transport, Trades, and Agricultural and Agri-Food will account for 5 percent fewer invitations in category-based draws.

The remaining 21.5 percent of invitations will be issued to candidates in general draws.
