Overview of the most recent EE Results
This section summarises the results of the most recent Express Entry Draws.
July 11 Results
In an all-program Express Entry draw, IRCC invited 800 candidates on July 11, in which the least required CRS score was 505. This CRS score was notably higher as compared to the previous week’s three category-based draws. However, this was still lower than the CRS score required in the July 4 draw, which was 511.
July 4-7 Results
Last week, IRCC conducted draws on four consecutive days between July 4-7.
The draw held on July 4 was an unexpected draw in which IRCC issued invitations to 700 candidates. The least required score for this draw was 511, which was the highest required CRS score for any all-program draw of 2023.
On July 5, IRCC held the week’s second draw, which was an expected first-ever category-based draw for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions. In this draw, 500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 486 were invited.
The third draw of the week took place on July 6, in which 1500 candidates from the healthcare category received the invitation. This was an expected category-based draw in which the least required score was 463.
On July 7, IRCC held the fourth draw of the week. In this draw, 2,300 candidates with high-french proficiency were invited by IRCC. The minimum required score for this draw was 439.
June 27-28 Results
On June 27, IRCC held an all-program draw in which a total of 4,300 invitations were issued. The least CRS score that candidates required for this draw was 486.
IRCC held the first-ever category-based draws on June 28. In this draw, a total of 500 candidates received invitations from the healthcare category to apply for Permanent Residency. Candidates required a minimum score of 476 to qualify for this draw.
Category-Based Selection Draws.
The new category-based selection draws were announced by Canada’s immigration minister Mr. Fraser at the end of May. He stated that IRCC has decided on the new categories for the category-based draws. These draws were expected after the government passed the royal assent of Bill C-19 last June in Canada’s parliament, which then became a law.
This law authorized the immigration minister to invite economic immigrants who they feel can support Canada’s economy and promote the French language outside of Quebec.
This implies that rather than just focusing on CRS score, the immigration minister can invite candidates based on specific qualities, like language proficiency and work experience.
The newly selected categories are as follows:
- Healthcare
- Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
- Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
- Transport
- Agriculture and agri-food
- Strong French-language proficiency
IRCC selected the categories after it held discussions with its partners, stakeholders, and provincial and territorial governments to understand the vital gaps in the labor market forces of Canada.
Candidates who are chosen under these categories must still qualify for the Express Entry program. In addition, candidates having a high-CRS score will be benefited as they will still be ranked against other candidates.
As per the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025, IRCC intends to welcome 82,880 new Permanent residents to the Country by the end of this year through Express Entry. For 2024, the target is set to 109,020, which further expands to 114,000 by 2025. As per the IRCC, the new categories of Express Entry will help make sure that the new immigrants to the country will contribute to reaching these targets while also helping strengthen Canada’s workforce.
