IRCC & Destination Canada hosts a bilingual virtual job fair for tourism, hospitality, and culinary jobs across Canada on November 13th, 14th, and 15th. Registration for the event will begin on September 23rd and close on October 27th, 2024. 

Participating job seekers will have the option to connect online with prospective Canadian employers and will even be able to apply to many of the positions discussed during the fair. 

Destination Canada’s Virtual Job Fair 

IRCC & Destination Canada hosts a bilingual virtual job fair. The event will take place between 3 & 8 pm Central European Time. Participation is free but by invitation only, with invitations scheduled to be sent out from November 4th onwards to those who have registered. To participate, jobseekers should first register and upload a bilingual CV in the Canadian format. 

In order to be eligible, applicants must: 

  • Be French-speaking or bilingual
  • Be seeking job opportunities outside of Quebec
  • Have experience in tourism, hospitality, & culinary professions
  • Upload their resume in the format as well as the language required 
  • Register for the event within the registration period 

Job seekers will also have the opportunity to interact with representatives from Canada’s French-speaking communities in provinces and territories outside of Quebec. These representatives will offer information about their regions, services for newcomers, and specific immigration programs. Representatives will also answer questions about living in French-speaking communities in Canada. 

Job seekers who secure a job offer and are already in Canada on a work or study permit might be eligible for a special facilitated work permit under the federal Mobilité francophone stream. 

The conferences will offer an overview of the tourism, hospitality, and culinary sectors and information on the procedures for working and settling in Canada, both temporarily and permanently. 

Notably, presentations will take place in French, with question-and-answer periods taking place in both English & French. 

In the days leading up to the event, a list of exhibitors presenting at the fair will also be sent to those who have successfully registered. In addition, job seekers can find the list of job vacancies on the virtual booths of exhibitors, which will be accessible during the entire event. 

The Growing Significance Of Francophone Immigration To Canada 

As IRCC & Destination Canada hosts a bilingual virtual job fair, the nation has undertaken a number of measures this year to emphasize the importance of Francophone and bilingual immigration to the country outside of Quebec. 

Among these measures include: 

  • Committing to increased growth of Francophone immigration targets outside of Quebec, which will grow from 6% this year to 7% in 2025, & 8% in 2026.
  • Establishing a new immigration pilot & direct pathway to permanent residence for Francophone students who plan on studying as well as residing in Francophone minority communities in Canada, outside of Quebec. 
  • Expanding the list of eligible communities within the Francophone Communities Initiative to 14 communities outside of Quebec. The FCI aims to support the settlement and integration of Francophone newcomers to Canada by working with local communities to support their transition to Canadian life.
