IRCC issued 400 ITAs to CEC applicants in the latest draw. Applicants required a minimum score of 539 to be considered. In another recent draw, IRCC issues 648 ITAs in the latest PNP-only Express Entry draw. Applicants needed a minimum CRS score of 791 to be considered.

In recent months, IRCC has developed a pattern of holding multiple Express Entry draws every second week. Counting the recent draw, the department has issued 12,815 ITAs of this type since May 30.

This highlights IRCC’s ongoing commitment to increasing the number of domestic draws for Express Entry applicants already living & working in Canada as temporary residents. This aims to help the department meet both its targets for reducing the number of temporary residents in Canada while also meeting the targeted number of permanent residents Canada will admit each year as outlined in the Immigration Levels Plan.

The next plan is expected to be released by November 1 this year, with targets for 2025-2027. The year 2024 planned to welcome over 110,770  applicants. So far, the details haven’t been released if IRCC met that target.

Furthermore, those who obtain an ITA in draws throughout the second half of the year will come to Canada in 2025 due to IRCC’s service standards of six months for processing Express Entry applications.

What Is Express Entry?

IRCC issues 648 ITAs in the latest PNP-only Express Entry draw. Apart from this, Express Entry is an application management system that oversees three of Canada’s most prominent economic immigration programs, i.e., the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Federal Skilled Workers Program, & the Canadian Experience Class.

These programs use the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to single out the applicants who are most likely to fill urgent gaps in Canada’s labor force & contribute to the national economy.

It does this by examining an applicant’s human capital factors, such as age, education, language ability, work experience, etc. Every factor obtains a score, which is added together to get an overall CRS score.

CRS scores are often higher in PNP draws. Well, that’s because Express Entry applicants who are nominated by a province automatically obtain an additional 600 points.

Applicants might also obtain points for having a family in Canada or immigrating with a spouse/ partner.

Those with the highest scores will likely obtain an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
