The 15th Express Entry draw for 2023 took place recently, and 4,300 ITAs were issued. The lowest CRS score was 486, as it turned out. This is the second draw in June after the last one on June 8. The CRS score for the last draw was 486, with 4,800 individuals receiving invitations.

Category-based selection will now include 82 occupations

On May 31st, IRCC announced that six additional Express Entry categories would be able to participate in the lottery later in the summer. Listed below are the categories:

  • Strong French language skills
  • Healthcare
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food
  • STEM – (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) professions
  • Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors

Express Entry candidates who meet the work or language experience requirements will be invited to apply (ITAs) for these new draws. Nearly half of all professions eligible for category-based selection are in the healthcare industry.

STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) contributes significantly to the economy. An ITA is only available to immigrants included in the Express Entry pool. They must also have job experience in one of the professions mentioned. The likelihood of receiving an ITA is still higher for those with the highest CRS scores.  So, getting a high grade is still crucial.

A discussion with the provinces, territories, and other relevant parties led to the selection of the categories, according to IRCC. As the government claims, classifications can change every year, so the results of the draws and their success will be included in IRCC’s annual report to Parliament.

15th Express Entry draw of 2023 – Definition of Express Entry

The application administration system for Canada’s three most well-known economic immigration programs, Express Entry, regulates the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Those that meet the eligibility requirements must upload their profiles to IRCC in order to use the Comprehensive Ranking System. The CRS takes into account a variety of elements, including job experience, linguistic proficiency, education, occupation, age, and other elements relating to human capital. The likelihood of an ITA draw is higher among individuals with the highest scores. Once an ITA – (Invitation to Apply) is received from IRCC, the applicant must finalize their permanent residency application within a 60-day timeframe. Subsequently, an immigration officer will thoroughly review the application and make a determination regarding the granting of permanent residence to the applicant.
