Latest PNP Draw Results: Ontario, BC, and PEI issued invitations to Candidates
The latest PNP Draw results of three Canadian provinces are now available.
The provinces that have issued invitations to candidates this week include Ontario, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island,
IRCC established the PNP stream because, in Canada, immigration is a joint responsibility of both federal and provincial governments. The stream gives more control to the provincial governments over selecting the economic immigrants who settle in the nominating province.
Through PNP, provincial governments select talented candidates who they feel are able to fill the vacant positions in the provincial labor market and can easily integrate into the provincial economy. This implies that the province issues invitation to candidates who will most probably stay in the province and ultimately advance and succeed.
Candidates who receive a provincial nomination have an increased possibility of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
In addition, Candidates in the Express Entry who have a provincial nomination are awarded an extra 600 CRS points. This ensures that they’ll receive an invitation to apply (ITA) in the forthcoming draw.
Based on the target of the immigration level plans, the IRCC, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada allocates the number of PNP nominations to each province. The immigration levels plan is an annual plan that summarises the admission targets for permanent residency during the next three years.
As per recent reports, the provinces are demanding additional control over economic immigration. Also, they have highlighted that they want to have an agreement with the federal government similar to the province of Quebec.
Quebec has an agreement with the federal government, the Canada-Quebec Accord, which gives it total control over the economic immigration to the province. Notably, Quebec is the only Canadian province that has a special agreement with the government.
Although such agreements have not been achieved, the group of ministers who are responsible for immigration met in March and sanctioned a new initiative from the IRCC. This established provincial immigration-level plans that specify the allocation of provincial nominations for the upcoming three years. In this, many of the allocations are higher than the earlier allotments.
This will allow provincial governments to plan for an increased number of new immigrants to the province and guarantee that there are sufficient job and housing opportunities, as well as other key infrastructure, to support new immigrants within the province. This will assist in making the province an appealing destination for immigration.
