Latest Provincial Draw Results and Ontario’s 2024 PNP Allocation
Three Canadian provinces, British Columbia, Alberta, and PEI, recently released their latest provincial draw results. Additionally, Ontario’s government released its 2024 PNP Allocation. Read on for the latest provincial draw results and Ontario’s 2024 PNP Allocation.
Latest Provincial Draw Results ( Between March 29-April 5)
British Columbia
The province of British Columbia (BC) conducted its provincial nomination draws on April 3, under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). The province sent invitations to 83 candidates in four separate draws.
British Columbia’s largest draw was general, and 30 candidates from five categories received invitations. Three categories were Skilled Workers, Skilled Workers (EEBC option), and International Graduates, and the needed score for these was 130. The remaining two categories were International Graduates (EEBC option) with a minimum score requirement of 125 and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled categories with a minimum score requirement of 107.
In addition to this draw, there were three more targeted draws for Skilled Workers and International Graduates (including the EEBC Option) in specific professions.
In these draws, 18 candidates skilled in Childcare occupations and 25 in healthcare occupations received invitations. The minimum score needed for these draws was 90.
10 candidates skilled in construction occupations also received invitations who had a minimum score of 95.
Alberta
Recently, the province of Alberta invited 48 candidates under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The province targeted candidates in the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway who had an Alberta job offer.
This Alberta’s stream is aligned with Express Entry. This means that all candidates had a CRS score. Candidates required a CRS score equal to or higher than 300 to be eligible for this draw.
In 2024, this was the eighth draw for this category as of now.
Prince Edward Island (PEI)
The province of PEI held its provincial nomination draw on April 4. PEI issued 66 invitations to candidates in the Labour and Express Entry stream who are skilled in the manufacturing, healthcare, and early childhood education sectors. Notably, this was this month’s first PNP draw of PEI and the sixth draw this year.
Ontario’s 2024 PNP Allocation
The province of Ontario has obtained a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allocation of 21,500 nominations for 2024.
This number indicates a rise of 5,000 nominations compared to its 2023 allocation of 16,500 PNP nominations.
The rise in Ontario’s PNP allocation for 2024 is a result of November’s meeting of the Federation of Ministers Responsible for Immigration (FMRI). In this meeting, each province’s and territory’s immigration ministers discussed with federal Immigration Minister Marc Miller the impact of immigration on their region.
Each Canadian province and territory except Quebec and Nunavut obtains a yearly PNP allocation of nominations from IRCC. Notably, some provinces do not make their allocations public.
Increased PNP allocations for 2024 are not surprising. This is because, at the meeting mentioned above, all provinces and territories asked for higher allocations and increased control over their nominations. It’s clear in this year’s allocations that Canada will welcome more PR.
As per the latest federal Immigration Levels Plan, Canada will admit 110,000 new permanent residents through the PNP. This figure is higher than the federal Express Entry program target.
A similar meeting occurred in March 2023, in which the FMRI approved the multi-year levels plan for PNP allocations. This aimed to help provinces plan their regional infrastructure more effectively to support the current population and newcomers’ needs.
Notably, the Ontario government has not announced details concerning the national allocations for the next two years.
So, this was the latest provincial draw results and Ontario’s 2024 PNP allocation.
