Importance Of Sector And Profession Selection In RCIP

Each year, communities participating in the RCIP must identify five key sectors and 25 approved occupations based on their local labor needs.

Only employers operating within these designated sectors and who offer jobs that align with the listed National Occupation Codes (NOCs) can become designated RCIP employers. Moreover, the job offer must be full-time and permanent to qualify.

Aside from a valid job offer in a listed occupation from a designated employer, foreign workers must also satisfy these eligibility criteria:

  • At least 1 year (1,560 hours) of relevant work experience in the last three years, or meet the international graduate exemption.
  • Meet language proficiency requirements based on the job offered.
  • Possess either a Canadian educational credential or an equivalent foreign credential.
  • Demonstrate sufficient settlement funds.

Applicants approved at the community level may proceed to submit a permanent residence application to the federal government.

At the time of writing, Peace Liard has not yet announced its list of designated RCIP employers.
