On April 17, 2025, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program issued a total of 168 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The invitations were extended to individuals presently working in the province under two key pathways: the Labour Impact category and PEI Express Entry stream.

The province specifically targeted those who have been living and employed in Prince Edward Island for a minimum of one year. These individuals were recognized for their ongoing contributions to the province’s economy as well as  workforce stability.

Within this group, PEI prioritized graduates from the following post-secondary institutions:

  • University of Prince Edward Island
  • Holland College
  • Collège de l’Île

The province has also reiterated its current focus on several high-demand sectors, including:

  • Trades
  • Manufacturing
  • Healthcare

Labour Impact Category: Eligibility Criteria

The Labour Impact Category of the PEI PNP is designed for candidates who can contribute economically to the province. It features three distinct streams:

  • Skilled Worker Stream
  • Critical Worker Stream
  • International Graduate Stream

To qualify under the Labour Impact Category, candidates must meet the following base requirements:

  • Be eligible for at least one of the three streams
  • Be aged between 21 and 59
  • Hold a full-time permanent job offer or a job contract of at least two years from a recognized PEI employer
  • Show proof of adequate settlement funds
  • Achieve a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 4

In addition to these base requirements, each stream under the Labour Impact Category has specific eligibility conditions. Applicants are advised to review the detailed criteria based on their intended stream before applying.

Express Entry Stream: What You Need to Qualify

To be considered under PEI’s Express Entry stream, candidates must have an active Express Entry profile on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. This profile should reflect eligibility for one or more of the following federal economic immigration programs:

  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program

Additional requirements apply to individuals holding Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP) from studies completed outside of PEI or Spousal Open Work Permits (SOWP) issued based on a spouse’s study permit from a non-PEI institution. These applicants must:

  • Have worked continuously for a PEI employer for at least nine months
  • Hold at least four months of validity on their work permit at the time they submit their Expression of Interest (EOI)

Eligible individuals, or their authorized representatives, may create a profile in PEI’s EOI system. Profiles remain active for six months, and only one profile can be maintained at a time.
