Last week, three Canadian provinces, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, issued Invitation To Apply (ITAs) to candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Except for Quebec and Nunavut, all Canadian provinces and territories feature PNP programs to target candidates who can support the provinces in achieving economic goals like lowering labor shortages. Besides PNP, many provinces also feature streams to target French-speaking newcomers to raise the French language prominence in regions other than Quebec. These language-specific streams point to the updates announced by IRCC recently concerning the federal Express Entry system.

A recent announcement by the province on May 31 highlighted that the qualified candidates for category-based selection could be issued invitations in future draws this year.

Prior to these new introductions, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) was used to evaluate the eligibility of Express Entry candidates. Now, similar to the Provincial Nominee Program, candidates with job experience in specific fields may get benefits.

Candidates with a provincial nomination are still required to apply for permanent residence separately.

PNP Results June 3-9

In this section, discover the PNP results of last week of three Canadian provinces: British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.

British Columbia, BC

On June 6, four targeted draws occurred in British Columbia, in which it invited 157 candidates from BCPNP’s Skilled Worker or International Graduate streams, including the Express Entry stream.

BC invited 112 candidates in its largest draw, targeting tech occupations. The candidates required the least SIRS score of 90.

The other three draws targeted 24 candidates who were early childhood educators and assistants, 21 from healthcare jobs, and less than five from other priority occupations. The SIRS score for all three draws was 60.

Saskatchewan

On June 8, Saskatchewan held its first draw of the month and invited 500 candidates. The province targeted candidates from two different programs of theSaskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program, SINP.

Compared to the draw held on May 18, this was smaller, but candidates required a slightly higher score. Candidates with Educational Credential Assessments and a minimum score of 69 were invited.

Nearly 268 candidates were from the Express Entry stream, and 232 were from the Occupations-in-Demand stream. The province nominated the candidates only if they had jobs matching specific National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes.

Ontario

Ontario held its PNP draw on June 5 and issued 278 notifications of interest to candidates.

The province targeted the French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream of the Express Entry of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

Under this stream, the province held two separate draws. The first draw targeted candidates in Health, Education, and Finance occupations, and the required CRS score varied from 312 to 487.

The second draw targeted candidates in Tech, Trades, and Other Priority occupations and invited an additional 139 candidates with a CRS score ranging from 348 to 487. The candidates must be proficient in English and have French-speaking ability. Candidates in this PNP stream must demonstrate whether they desire to be evaluated against the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
