Three Canadian provinces sent invitations for immigration programs
Three Canadian provinces sent invitations for immigration programs to candidates. These include British Columbia, Manitoba, and Quebec, out of which Manitoba and BC nominated candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program. Conversely, Quebec works differently based on its agreement with the federal government. Instead of nominating candidates, it invites them to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate or CSQ. All provinces or territories, excluding Quebec and Nunavut, practice their PNPs to assist the governments in selecting suitable candidates. These are preferably candidates who can easily integrate well into the Canadian workforce.
The PNPs play a crucial role because immigration is a mutual responsibility between the federal and provincial governments. Annually, the provinces receive allocations they might issue to candidates.
Successful candidates who acquire a provincial nomination are in a better position to further apply directly to IRCC for Canadian permanent residence.
On the other hand, Quebec has a unique deal with the federal government that gives it control over the selection of economic immigrants. This means that the province doesn’t rely on PNP allocations, as it has the authority to select candidates.
Three Canadian provinces sent invitations for immigration programs
British Columbia
Last week, between June 1 and 7, British Columbia expressed its interest and sent 68 invitations to the British Columbia PNP in four distinct draws. These were occupation-based draws, targeting candidates in the Skilled Worker Stream and International Graduate Stream, along with the EEBC option. This draw was conducted on June 4.
The most significant number of invitations were issued to 33 candidates in tech occupations. The minimum score requirement was 122.
Here are the results of the remaining three draws:
- Healthcare Occupations – 13 ITAs were sent to candidates who scored at least 100 points.
- Childcare Occupations – 8 ITAs were sent to candidates who held a least score of 93.
- Construction Occupations – 14 Candidates received ITAs who got a minimum score of 93.
Quebec
Quebec officially published the weekly outcomes of the draw conducted on May 30. Typically, the province publishes results after they have taken place. This province issued ITAs to a whopping number of candidates, 1441 individuals. These were invitations for permanent selection applications. However, they could get an invitation only if they:
- Demonstrated French language oral proficiency above the score level 7. This is according to the Quebec Scale of Proficiency Levels or its equivalent.
- Held a score of 591 points or beyond that.
Besides these factors, candidates with a valid job offer outside the Montreal Metropolitan Community territory also became eligible. (Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, CMM in French).
Manitoba sent invitations for provincial immigration programs
Manitoba sent 254 letters of advice to candidates applying for the Manitoba PNP. Out of the 254 letters, 35 belonged to those with the following two things:
- An authentic Express Entry profile number.
- Job seeker validation code.
Candidates in three distinct categories received letters in draws:
- 134 invitations to Skilled Workers in Manitoba – Minimum score of 834.
- 74 candidates received invitations in the International Graduate Stream – No minimum score.
- Skilled Workers Overseas Stream – Candidates received 45 letters through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The minimum score requirement was 708.
