Two Canadian provinces invite applicants in the latest PNP draws. All provinces have their own PNP except for Quebec & Nunavut. PNPs enable provincial governments to select immigration applicants who can successfully integrate into the local economy & fill gaps in the labor force.

When the province nominates an applicant, the applicant’s case is much stronger when they apply to IRCC for permanent residence status.

Moreover, not all PNPs operate the same way. For instance, Alberta recently developed new guidelines for the Rural Renewal Stream, Accelerated Tech Pathway, and Alberta Opportunity Stream. The province sets a deadline to accept a specific number of applications by a specific date every month to allow for more efficient processing.

The latest results show that, as of July 9, the application targets for the Rural Renewal Stream (160 applications) and the Tourism & Hospitality Stream (143 applications) had been met.

As of July 11, the province also hit its application target for the Alberta Opportunity Stream (444 applications).

Provincial Immigration Results From July 6 to July 12

Two Canadian provinces invite applicants in the latest PNP draws. Here are the results for the same.

1. Ontario

On July 9, Ontario issued over 1,556 invitations to applicants in the Master’s Graduate Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. Applicants required a minimum score of 54. It was a general draw, implying that all professions were considered.

On the same day, the province also invited 110 applicants from PhD Graduate Stream with a minimum score of 50. It was a general draw as well.

Another OINP draw took place on July 11, inviting 1,277 applicants to the Express Entry: Skilled Trades Stream. All applicants had a minimum score of 408-435. Moreover, the draw targeted applicants in specific skilled trades professions.

When a province nominates an Express Entry applicant, they obtain an additional 600 points in the federal Comprehensive Ranking System. This implies that they are virtually guaranteed to obtain an invitation to apply from IRCC in the forthcoming Express Entry draw.

2. British Columbia

On July 9, British Columbia invited more than 66 applicants in five draws for applicants in the Skilled Worker, International Graduate & Entry-Level, & Semi-Skilled streams of the BC PNP.

Moreover, the largest draw was general for applicants in all streams. All applicants required a minimum score of 134 to be considered, except Entry-Level and semi-skilled applicants, who required a score of 110.

The remaining four draws targeted applicants in specific professions & considered only Skilled Workers & International Graduate applicants.

  • Childcare Professions: 10 applicants with a minimum score of 94.
  • Healthcare Professions: 12 applicants with a minimum score of 104.
  • Construction Professions: 9 applicants with a minimum score of 95.

The province also invited fewer than five applicants in veterinary care professions with a minimum score of 80.
