Recently, three Canadian provinces nominated candidates in a PNP draw. The nominating provinces include British Columbia, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island. All provinces considered candidates from various in-demand occupations and sent them ITA under their specific Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Discover the PNP draw result for each province.

In Canada, British Columbia and Alberta’s PNP are the two most extensive PNP programs.

These programs have various immigration streams for newcomers living in and outside their province. These include streams for workers with in-demand skills, experienced entrepreneurs, international graduates, and others.

Latest PNP Draw Result: Three Canadian Provinces Nominated Candidates

Canadian provinces and territories use different score systems to assess PNP candidates. This means each province and territory has scoring grades and eligibility criteria for inviting candidates.

British Columbia

British Columbia’s PNP is called the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). In its recent PNP draw, the province targeted candidates in the Skilled Worker & international Graduate stream. It also considers the Express Entry British Columbia EEBC option. Under this stream, the province considers international students who are skilled in in-demand skills that are needed in British Columbia’s labor market.

In this draw, BC sent around 200 invitations to apply to skilled workers & international graduates in five separate high-demand sectors. These include:

  • Childcare sector: To receive an invitation in this sector, candidates needed a minimum score of 60.
  • Construction sector: Candidates needed at least a 75 score to receive an invitation under this sector.
  • Healthcare sector: To receive an invitation in this sector, candidates needed a minimum score of 60.
  • Tech Sector: Candidates required at least a 108 score to receive an invitation under this sector.
  • Veterinary care: Candidates required at least a 60 score to receive an invitation under this sector.

Alberta

The province of Alberta recently held its PNP draw on February 6. In this draw, it sent around 44 Notifications of Interest to candidates in the healthcare sector. Alberta targeted candidates under the “Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta job offer.”

Alberta’s PNP is called the Alberta Advantage Immigrant Program (AAIP). It issues “Notifications of Interest (NOIs)” under its PNP that is comparable to the Invitation to Apply (ITAs).

In order to be eligible for this draw, candidates must be skilled in the Healthcare sector and have provincial work experience. In addition, they must have a job offer from an employer in Alberta. The needed score for this draw was 302.

Prince Edward Island

The province of PEI also held its latest PNP draw and invited 121 candidates. It targeted Labour and Express Entry candidates under its PNP and sent them Expressions of Interest.

Candidates need a minimum score of 65 and must be employed under a PEI employer to receive EOI from the province.

Within the last year, Prince Edward Island has invited 2,307 candidates. Among them, the majority of EOI, i.e., 2,253 EOI, are sent to Labour and Express Entry candidates. The rest, 54, were issued to Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs.

How can you get a provincial invitation?

Many provincial nominee programs have specific pathways for candidates who have connections to the province. For instance, they have a provincial job letter, they have graduated from the province’s DLI, or they have any family connection with the province.

However, besides this, all provinces have streams for in-demand professions that can help them address their provincial labor market needs.

So, if you are willing to immigrate to Canada, you can consider adjusting your abilities per the provincial requirements.

This means that if you have abilities that a province or territory needs, there are more chances that you will secure an invitation to apply from the province. Also, each province has some in-demand professions that they showcase to attract new immigrants to address its labor market shortages.

It’s expected that by 2025, the PNP will surpass the Express Entry and become the main immigration pathway in Canada.
